The 2nd International Conference on Computing Innovation and Applied Physics (CONF-CIAP 2023) was a hybrid conference which includes several workshops (offline and online) around the world. Dr. Emanuel Indrei from Purdue University, Dr. Marwan Omar from Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. Anil Fernando from University of Strathclyde, and Dr. Xinqing Xiao from China Agricultural University have chaired these workshops on related topics. CONF-CIAP 2023 provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange ideas and build networks, and it will lead to further collaborations between both universities and other societies.
Organizer: Department of Mathematics, Purdue University
The workshop titled "Some Themes in Calculus of Variations" took place on 5 March 2023 at the Department of Mathematics Purdue University. With the topic of the isoperimetric problem, Dr. Emanuel Indrei, Assistant Professor in Purdue University chaired the Workshop, aiming to gain insights into two aspects: (1) outline the historical significance of the isoperimetric problem; (2) emphasize the modern research in pure mathematics underscoring an unanticipated obstruction to answer the many elementary questions. The participants had spirited debates and in-depth discussions about subjects like "Isoperimetric inequalities, functional inequalities, minimization". Please check the Workshop's official website for further details.
Organizer: ITM Department, Illinois Institute of Technology
The workshop "Understanding Techniques for Hiding and Scrambling Information" was successfully held on February 22, 2023 at the ITM Department, Illinois Institute of Technology, chaired by Dr. Marwan Omar, Associate Professor in Illinois Institute of Technology. The workshop aims to provide participants with practical tools and techniques that they can apply in their work to better protect sensitive or valuable information from unauthorized access or theft, thereby enhancing their ability to ensure the security, privacy, and intellectual property rights of themselves, their clients, or their organizations. Please check the Workshop's official website for further details.
Organizer: Department of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Strathclyde
The "Semantic Communications for High Volume Multimedia Content Delivery in 6G" workshop took place on March 21, 2023 at University of Strathclyde, UK. The objective of this workshop is to introduce Semantic communication theory and its importance in current high volume low bandwidth applications in mobile communications. During the session potential practical applications of Semantic communication, its current limitations, and future direction had been discussed. In contrast to the conventional communication applications and data compression techniques, an increasing share of data content is analyzed by machines rather than humans, and hence the importance to optimize the transmission and compression techniques to suit the machines was also discussed.
Organizer: Dr. Xinqing Xiao, Associate Professor in China Agricultural University
The workshop titled "Advanced Sensing Technology and Application" was successfully held on Feb. 25, 2023 at the College of Engineering, China Agricultural University chaired by Assoc. Professor Xinqing Xiao. The 10 students attending the workshop were mainly doctor, master and international students from the discipline of mechanical and electronic engineering and agriculture engineering, accounting at China Agricultural University. The workshop showcased some of the latest research conducted in the area of advanced sensing technology and application in agriculture as well as overlaps between the two subjects. Some of the topics discussed including examination of advanced sensing technology in wearable electronic, the application in food or fruit monitoring, and the development trends in future. The workshop also has discussed the possible application in animals breeding such as the aquaculture, live sheep breeding and transportation etc. by using the advanced sensing technologies such as the flexible wearable sensing and electronics. Please check the Workshop's official website for further details.
The 2nd International Conference on Computing Innovation and Applied Physics (CONF-CIAP 2023) was held on March 25, 2023. Dr. Marwan Omar from Illinois Institute of Technology, Dr. Roman Bauer from University of Surrey, Dr. Michael Harre from The University of Sydney, Dr. Achintya Haldar from University of Arizona, Dr. Emanuel Indrei from Purdue University, Dr. Bhupesh Kumar from University of St-Andrews, Dr. Bismark Singh from University of Southampton, Dr. Abdullahi Arabo from University of the West of England, and Dr. Selda Kapan Ulusoy from Erciyes University have given keynote speeches on related topics of mathematics and applied mathematics, applied physics, etc. Also, we invited authors of qualified papers to deliver oral presentations at the Online Session. Eight authors have presented their studies of computer science, mechanical design, deep learning, etc. Questions from the audience were collected and answered by the presenters.
